Experience Prototypes for User Testing (2013)

In Intel Labs, I was Design Lead on a team of technologists developing future camera technology. At a decision-making juncture, the team needed to explain and test potential consumer value of a proposed new camera technology. Working with UX researchers, designed and built interactive experience prototypes that simulated the expected qualities of images captured using the technology. The prototypes allowed testing of various interaction scenarios with users, and became an invaluable tool for guiding investment and communicating potential technology impact.

We were able to run a study that took volunteer's home photos, and converted them into similar prototypes. This allowed the volunteers to explore and interact with their own images as if they were captured using the theoretical technology.

This video was used to talk about how depth enabled images could allow users to change image focus, adjust synthetic lighting, and spatially navigate between images captured in nearby locations.
